The Adventures of Abney and Teal on CBeebies
The Adventures of Abney & Teal is the latest series from the award-winning Ragdoll Productions and launched on CBeebies on 26th September 2011. The show has a unique nostalgic and literary feel while utilising modern post production techniques combining a stop motion style and hand painted elements.
Mel was involved from beginning to end, first creating a library of assets from hand painted elements (character cutouts and 360 degree rotation images, trees, shrubs, landscape, props) and then built the 22 sets for the programme and constructed the 3D scenes. As well as initial design, Mel also composited character animations and added visual fx to each shot (including weather conditions and time of day lighting), to produce the final shots for the programme.
